What Would Be A Good Associates Degree To Obtain Before Going Into A Speech Pathology Program?

I am going to complete my first 64 credit hours at a local community college before moving on to a bachelors (and then masters) of speech pathology. I am thinking about obtaining an associates degree because it will make the transfer of credits much smoother, and I will still be able to complete all of the prerequisites. However, I am not sure what type of degree would be a good choice. I was thinking either child development or psychology, but I am very much open to suggestions. If it helps you answer my question, I plan on working in a school or pediatric hospital setting when I become a speech therapist.
Thank you so much!

Your choices seem OK, but how about taking biology? Good luck in any case.

Look into the requirements of the school you hope to transfer to. I know that you will need basics like math, biology, chemistry and english. However, if SP requires alot of science classes you might be better off getting a science degree. Focus more on the classes you need for a bachelors vs the name of the community college degree. Dont forget to check to make sure each class will transfer to each school. Ex: some schools want only biology for science majors some dont care. so you’re better off taking the science major biology. However, the school might not let you take it if you major in something like psychology.
